Caring in Camden: Our hometown

Community

We have called Camden, New Jersey home since 1869.  It鈥檚 why we鈥檝e proudly partnered for years with incredible organizations that provide essential services to Camden residents.

In addition to making monetary donations, we鈥檙e committed to volunteering and finding ways for employees to make meaningful improvements in the community.

What they do: helps young people in Camden build strong futures by focusing on skill development, real-world job experience, and trauma-informed care to put them on the path to long-term living wage careers.

In 2000, we provided the initial grant to get the organization off the ground. Over twenty years later, they are still uplifting Camden youth and we鈥檙e still finding new and creative ways to support them鈥攆rom hosting business clothing drives to 鈥淟unch & Learns鈥 about careers in IT and cybersecurity.

Cathedral Kitchen (CK)

What they do: is the largest emergency food provider in Camden. Established over 40 years ago, they serve more than 100,000 nutritious meals a year to food insecure individuals in the area, in addition to providing culinary job training and various support services.

We provided a founding grant to help launch Cathedral Kitchen and have groups of employees still volunteering monthly to prepare and serve meals at dinner services. At our headquarters, we regularly host events to make sandwiches and assemble cutlery for Cathedral Kitchen鈥檚 lunch services.

Our culinary team also leads classes teaching students in Cathedral Kitchen鈥檚 Culinary Arts Training Program. They cover everything from how to bake pastries to how to create nutritious and healthy recipes. Our chefs volunteer their time to share their expertise and help build culinary skills. It鈥檚 just one of the unique ways we鈥檙e able to partner together.

Camden鈥檚 Charter School Network

Camden charter school network

What they do: consists of four Camden’s Promise charter schools serving students grades PreK-12 across the city. The network focuses on maintaining a close connection to alumni and assisting them through their post-secondary plans, including colleges and universities, trade schools, the military, and the general workforce.

Over the years, we鈥檝e found different ways to support these Camden schools. This year we were able to donate commercial grade equipment, including a large electric stove. The donations will help students interested in the culinary arts develop skills and experience with real-world kitchen equipment.

We鈥檙e also working to create professional development programs with the schools. We are currently planning employee-led, skills-based workshops to help students gain relevant job skills鈥攆rom how to create a LinkedIn profile to networking and mock interviews.

Our funding helped to launch the Kroc Center in 2014 and since then we鈥檝e remained strong partners. Our employees volunteer throughout the year on various projects including:
